I've always been a fan of Alladin's intimate setting. They have a little bit of everything, room to stand, room to sit, even a balcony. I miss the restaurant that was attached, but having the merch booths front and center is pretty cool for the artists. Overall, 10 outta 10 would go there again and again.
If I am not mistaken, Jefferson Airplane, used to play gigs here in the 60's, even before Grace Slick joined the band. Back when the original Jefferson Airplane vocalist Signe Toly Anderson was on board. Of course; Jefferson Airplane lauded not one, but two vocalists in their band, other than those two; along with Marty Balin. Can you imagine seeing Pre-Grace Slick, Jefferson Airplane here, at this very location, in the early to mid 60's? What a great time that must have been...
One of the best music venue in PDX simply by the measure of the artists that perform here. The acoustics are surprisingly good for an old movie theater. I've been going to concerts here for 25+years, and in all that time very little has changed. They finally updated some of the interior during the COVID shutdown, but only reupholstered the the old seats that appear to date back to the 1927 opening of the theater; still as lumpy and uncomfortable as ever. But don't let that stop you from missing a show here!
